The Meaning of Njabot
The word Njabot means family in Wolof, a language spoken in Senegal. Family is at the core of everything we create: the families of artisans who pass down their weaving techniques through generations, the Tackussanu Senegal family of designers, and the global community who brings our pieces into their homes.
Heritage Meets Modern Design
The Njabot Collection revisits the essential principles of TKS: sustainability, artistry, and timeless design. Comprised of four iconic baskets—Teranga Peak, Flat Top, Dou Boho, and Jummy—each piece embodies simplicity while carrying a modern sophistication.
Crafted in muted natural tones and accented with rich chocolate-brown leather, the baskets speak to understated elegance. Their design reflects Senegalese tradition while offering versatility for today’s interiors, from minimalist apartments to curated luxury spaces.
The Story Behind the Collection
The Njabot Collection was first envisioned in 2021–2022, born from a desire to return to the foundational elements of Tackussanu Senegal. What began as Le Luxe, a nod to the standard of luxury in handcrafted objects, evolved into something deeper. Guided by TKS Cultural Communicator Elhadji, the name Njabot was chosen to honor family and togetherness.
Styled by Jide and photographed by Sam in a Baltimore loft, the collection was presented with a balance of simplicity and artistry. Pieces of everyday life were paired with our handcrafted baskets, proving that beauty and function can live side by side.
