Studio Collection I

Dou Bou Ndaw

Two pieces. One collection. Studio Collection I is built around the Dou Bou Ndaw—a lidded basket hand-coiled from Ndiorokh grass and white recycled plastic strips. The collection is the Dou Bou Ndaw in both of its expressions: the Peak Lid and the Flat Lid. Same hands. Same coiling. Two different presences in a room. Both pieces are hand-coiled by Wolof women in Senegal, coil by coil, from Vetiveria nigritana—a grass native to West Africa. Studio Collection I is where the natural tone of the grass and the geometry of the lid become the full language of the piece. Sold as a set. One Peak Lid. One Flat Lid.
