Teranga Basket - Baay

The foundational Teranga form in the Baay colourway — hand-coiled in muted black, finished with black sheepskin leather. Teranga is the Wolof word for hospitality. In the Baay Collection, that same spirit is expressed through a deeper, quieter register. The basket closes with a lid. Two expressions are available: the Peak Lid, which rises to a point, and the Flat Lid, which rests. Same construction. Same record. Different presence in a room.

The Craft - Each piece is hand-coiled by Wolof women in Senegal, coil by coil. Because each basket is made by hand, no two pieces are identical. Dimensions reflect the standard range for this form and will vary slightly between pieces.

Dimensions - As a hand-coiled object, each piece falls within a standard range. Dimensions are approximate and reflect the nature of the craft.

Production Lead Time - All pieces are made to order. Please allow a minimum of 45 days production time. This does not include shipping. A separate shipping invoice will be sent when your order is ready to leave Senegal.

Care - Spot clean only. Using minimal water, gently dab with a damp cloth or paper towel and allow to dry completely before storing. Never immerse the basket in water. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as this may affect the natural materials over time.
