Cognac does not arrive quietly. It is a deep, warm brown — rich in tone, deliberate in presence. This Winter Reuge was made for the Tackussanu Senegal Trunk Show at Moda Operandi, one of the most discerning luxury retail platforms in the world. It was not made for the standard collection. It was made for that moment, in that colorway, as a single object. Hand-coiled coil by coil from Ndiorokh grass and black recycled plastic strips, then fully encased in cognac sheepskin leather — body and lid. The leather covers everything. The form is a square basket, large, resolved, and complete. The leather has since taken on the quiet patina of a piece that has been seen, handled, and lived alongside. It appeared in product photography. It stood in a showroom. It carries that history now as part of its own. No second piece exists in this colorway. What you see is what arrives. |
