The journey of every Tackussanu Senegal piece begins here—not in boardrooms or factories, but in circles, courtyards, and artisan studios alive with rhythm.
I’ve worked with Kine, our first weaver, since 2020. Our exchanges aren’t in English or French, but in what I fondly call “Tackussanu Wolof.” It’s a language of greetings, measurements in centimeters, and basket talk. She doesn’t read or write, yet her math is flawless. When a basket is ready, she sends a car emoji and the price in CFA, the local currency. That is how commerce moves here—communal, vibrant, alive.

From Kine’s hands, the baskets travel to Cheikh, our leather and wood artisan. I met him in 2023, and his studio, always filled with the sound of football matches, reflects discipline and artistry. Clean, circular, and intentional. His leatherwork and carved details now form part of our first furniture collection, set to debut this October at Cohab Space during High Point Market.

“This is not just work. This is memory.”
That phrase defines what Tackussanu Senegal stands for. Every basket, every carving, every piece is a vessel of story—woven threads of memory, resilience, and tradition.
Tackussanu Senegal is not just about objects. It is about memory, heritage, and connection—woven into your home, one piece at a time.
